Irene “Rena” Machowa Lubker from the Medical University of South Carolina will be leading a discussion about her experiences as a foreign born black librarian… \n\nThe amazing opportunities\, challenges and how I use everything to maintain wellness and keep balanced!\n\n\nIrene “Rena” Machowa Lubker\, PhD\, MLS\, MPH\, RD is a Research and Education Informationist & Associate Professor at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) Libraries in Charleston\, South Carolina in the United States of America. At MUSC\, she works mostly with Dental and Public Health students\, faculty and staff. Rena was the Chair for Medical Library Association’s (MLA) Librarians Without Borders (LWB) in 2018/2019\, Co-Chair of the Cunningham International Fellowship subcommittee 2019-2020\, leadership committee member of the MLA International Cooperation Caucus\, MLA Board member and is the MLA Allied Representative (AR) to the Association of Health Information and Libraries in Africa (AHILA) since 2018. As the AR to AHILA\, Rena has traveled to Ibadan – Nigeria\, Pretoria -South Africa\, and Gaborone – Botswana to attend and present at the AHILA Congress\, continuously seeking new ways MLA and AHILA can continue to strengthen the ties we have and work together. Her research interests are in Global Health\, Health Disparities\, Evidence-Based Practice\, Adult Learning and Curriculum-Based Library Instruction and Assessment.\n\n\nSHLA members were sent a Webex invitation to this event.
