News of the discovery in B.C. of even more children lost to the residential schools has a devastating impact on all of us. The SHLA wants to highlight mental health and crisis resources for anyone struggling at this time.

National Indian Residential School Crisis Line

1-866-925-4419 – telephone line that has been set up to provide support to former students and those affected by the recent news out of Kamloops/Tk’​emlúps te Secwépemc First Nation. People can access emotional and crisis services.

Hope for Wellness Help Line

1-855-242-3310 or online chat at hopeforwellness.ca Offers immediate help for all Indigenous peoples in Canada 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Counselling and crisis intervention are offered in English, French, Cree, Ojibway, and Inuktitut. Counsellors can also work with you to find other wellness supports that are accessible near you.
