Journal Club

Why Participate?

The SHLA Journal club is an informal place to discuss and evaluate recent literature and evidence related to health libraries and librarianship, with the aim of informing and improving our daily practice. The bi-monthly meetings also help to inspire new ideas and collaborations within and among members’ respective organizations.

The club meets the requirements for accreditation through the Canadian Health Libraries Association/Association des bibliotheques de la sante du Canada and is thus one method of earning Continuing Education (CE) credits. Each 60 minute meeting earns participants a 1.0 CE credit through CHLA.

What to Expect

An article and discussion questions are posted at least one week before each meeting. Each meeting has a facilitator, who will introduce the article and lead the discussion. Various tools may be used in guiding discussion (e.g., critical appraisal tool), and each meeting will have its own flavour!
